4 Nicotine e-liquid sold to minors in Suffolk: police

CITY OF SMITHTOWN, NY — Four people were arrested Wednesday night in connection with the sale of e-liquid nicotine to minors at businesses in the Fourth Ward, which largely covers the city of Smithtown, Suffolk Police said.

Officers investigated the sale of e-liquid nicotine to minors in which many businesses were checked for compliance after community members filed complaints, police said.

Four people have been arrested and charged with selling nicotine e-liquid to people under the age of 21, police said:

  • Zubair Mahamud, 25, of Ronkonkoma, employed at Barcode Hookah & Smoke Shop, 2402 Ocean Ave., Ronkonkoma.
  • David Pagan, 22, of Centereach, employed in Hookah City, 2700 Middle Country Road, Lake Grove.
  • Garett Ituarte, 22, of Northport, employed at the Hash Convenience Store, 60 Main St., Kings Park.
  • Paula Engel-Dibartolo, 52, of Kings Park, employed at Speedway, 152 Pulaski Road, Kings Park.

The employees have been issued field appearance tickets and are scheduled to appear in Central Islip First District Court on July 5.

  • Smoke Hub 4, at 278 Ronkonkoma Ave, Ronkonkoma
  • E-Smoke & Convenience, at 370 Ronkonkoma Ave., Ronkonkoma
  • Smoke Shop of Smithtown, at 6 E. Main St., Smithtown
  • BP service station, at 94 Pulaski Road, Kings Park.
